2015 Fit production underway in Mexico

A major milestone was reach as Honda announced late last month that they had produced a total of 20 million automobiles in North America since they started Accord production in Marysville, Ohio in 1982. Accord production in the U.S. hit 10 million units as well last month.

Honda states nearly 95 percent of cars sold under the Honda and Acura brands in the U.S. are produced in North America. A vehicle not currently built in the U.S. is the Fit, which just had its next generation unveiled, and will be available at dealers such as http://www.edvoyles.com/honda/dealer/atlanta.

A brand new plant in Celaya, Mexico recently began producing the 2015 Honda Fit, allowing Honda to build nearly every product they sell in the U.S. in North America. Honda states that they will have the capacity to build 1.92 million vehicles per year in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The 2015 Fit brings more efficient engines and transmissions, with a six-speed manual and CVT automatic available at launch. Features such as Bluetooth, LED taillights, cruise control and keyless entry are standard, with options like Honda’s LaneWatch system and a touchscreen audio interface available on higher spec EX and EX-L trims.
