Employers looking for skills from online graduates

Even with a high number of college graduates in popular fields, including Business Administration and Computer Science, the number of graduates who are actually ready to jump into an actual job seems to be going down.

Textbook seller Chegg conducted a recent survey and said there is “a gap between the skills hiring managers reported seeing in recent graduates and the skills the students perceive themselves as having mastered.”

Chegg’s study showed that while 50 percent of college students thought they were prepared for the workplace, only 39 percent of hiring managers thought the same thing. Other studies show that employers are looking for skills, and that GPA and school prestige is much less important than students think.

The single most important thing hiring managers are looking for are graduates who have the skills to meet the requirements of the job. Enrolling in an online university that caters to students who want real skills in their industry is what many experts are recommending, such as http://www.trident.edu/bachelors-degrees.

For more advanced Master’s and Ph.D degrees, making sure that you are prepared for the jobs that are out there should be more important than getting into the best Ivy League school you can. Finding an educator that works for you to make sure you are ready is the best plan of action. Many online universities are now offering comprehensive Master’s and Ph.D degrees, including http://www.trident.edu/masters-degrees and http://www.trident.edu/phd/home.

Today’s employers are looking for graduates who are smart, can think on their feet, and are ready to take charge in the working world. Preparing yourself as best as possible should be students’ number one priority.
